Italian businesses expect inflation to rise, says Bank of Italy survey
A Bank of Italy survey, published on Monday, shows that inflation expectations rose from 1.7% in June from 1.4% in March owing to higher costs of production.
Over the longer term, inflation expectations went up to 2% from the 1.8% in March. This was in line with the central bank's forecast.
On average firms declared they had increased prices by 0.4% in the 12 months prior to June. However, the gains realised were still below the 0.8% anticipated in June 2009 for the same period. Firms surveyed
