New Azeri coins commemorate medieval poet

AZERBAIJAN - The National Bank of Azerbaijan has issued two types of gold and silver commemorative coins of a face value of 100 and 50 manats respectively.

The British Royal Mint has minted 200 gold and 1,500 smooth and 1,500 matt silver coins devoted to the 500th anniversary of Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli. A set of three coins costs 160.67 pounds sterling. The reverse of the coin carries Fuzuli's portrait, while the obverse depicts a scene from the poem "Leyli and Macnun".
