PRESS RELEASE - Central Bank to exchange Irish notes and coins indefinitely, 30 December.

Since the introduction of euro cash last January, the Central Bank has provided an exchange facility for those who wish to change Irish banknotes and coins into euro. This service will continue indefinitely.

The Central Bank has seen a large increase in numbers visiting to avail of this service in recent days and weeks. Some of those visiting believed that this service is due to cease on 31 December. This
