Bank of Ghana wins legal case against ‘corrupt’ firm
Central bank says it uncovered bribery and a corrupt tender process during investigation
A London-based international court has dismissed a case brought by a firm against Ghana’s central bank, which had argued that the claimant had acted corruptly.
Ghana-based payment services firm Sibton Switch Systems bought the case against the central bank in 2018, seeking damages of $478 million.
Sibton Switch Systems was bought by Ghana-based Pass Holdco in October 2020. Pass Holdco did not respond to a request for comment from Central Banking.
The BoG terminated its agreement with Sibton
