Tensions rise between Irish trade union and central bank over staff structure

Trade union says it will ballot its members over strike action if changes are imposed

The trade union Unite is set to ballot its members at the Central Bank of Ireland over strike action if management attempts to impose new salary and staffing structures without consulting employees – while the central bank has insisted it will engage with the union.

Unite sent a letter to several hundred staff members at the central bank advising them it was asking for a formal consultation on the proposed structures and would call for strike action if this request was not met.
