Nigerian governor remains in office despite president’s call for resignation
Electoral commission also calls on Emefiele to step down over bid to become next president
Nigeria’s central bank governor has remained in office, despite the president calling on him to resign over his bid to become the next head of state.
Central Bank of Nigeria governor Godwin Emefiele was formally nominated as a presidential candidate for the ruling All Progressives’ Congress in April. Several senior Nigerian legal and political figures have now called for him to resign if he wishes to pursue the candidacy.
