Afghan governor flees country as Taliban seize Kabul
Some former officials manage to leave Kabul while sources say others remain in country
The acting governor of Afghanistan’s central bank, Ajmal Ahmady, left the country on a military plane as Taliban forces entered the capital city Kabul.
One source told Central Banking that he was in contact with several former central bank officials who were attempting to flee the country, so far unsuccessfully. Another former central bank official said he had left Kabul with his family on one of the last commercial flights from Hamid Karzai International Airport.
