BoE publishes emails showing unsuccessful lobbying by former PM

David Cameron urged BoE to support Greensill Capital during pandemic, correspondence shows

The Bank of England published letters and emails today (April 22), showing that former UK prime minister David Cameron lobbied the central bank on several occasions in a bid to save the collapsing firm Greensill Capital.

The BoE published the correspondence as part of a freedom of information request. In an accompanying statement, the central bank said “no changes” were made to the Covid Corporate Financing Facility (CCFF) as a result of Cameron’s lobbying.

Greensill was a financial firm
