The government of Mauritius has appointed a new governor and second deputy governor of the central bank after asking the previous incumbents to resign, local media in the country report.

The government named Harvesh Kumar Seegolam to replace Yandraduth Googoolye as governor. Googoolye had held the role for just over two years, taking it up in January 2018. He was nominated as governor in December 2017 by the newly-elected government of current prime minister, Pravind Jugnauth.
