Romanian ruling party leader accuses central bank of political bias
President rejects accusations that central bank is spreading “fake news” as inflation rises
Romania’s president has called for the leader of the country’s governing party to withdraw accusations that the central bank is spreading “fake news” about the economy.
Liviu Dragnea, leader of the ruling Social Democratic party, told locally-based journalists on April 20 that the National Bank of Romania (BNR) was working with opposition politicians to discredit the government. “Some actions of [the central bank] are too co-ordinated with some statements by the president and opposition leaders
