ECB rejects ombudsman’s call for Draghi to leave G30
Think-tank’s discussions improve understanding of global economy, ECB says
The European Central Bank has rejected an official watchdog’s call for Mario Draghi to step down from a think-tank of bankers and economists.
Emily O’Reilly, who as European ombudsman has the role of overseeing the European Union’s institutions, said in a report issued on January 17 that Draghi should effectively leave the Group of 30, or G30. O’Reilly said Draghi should suspend his membership of the G-30 for the rest of his term as ECB president.
She said there was no evidence the G30
