IMF’s Lagarde gives update on women’s empowerment pledges

Fund has teamed up with UK to provide ‘gender-budgeting’ assistance

The International Monetary Fund will be incorporating ‘gender-budgeting’ into its support packages for financial management, said managing director Christine Lagarde on September 19. The goal was to use fiscal policy to promote gender equality.

Lagarde updated a United Nations panel on her five commitments made last year in support of women’s economic empowerment.
