ESRB views US financial deregulation ‘with concern’

Vice-chair Olli Rehn announces new communication drive as “memory of last financial crisis fades”

The first vice-chair of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) has expressed its concern about the ongoing drive to deregulate finance in the US.

In a speech today (February 20) to the European Parliament’s economic and monetary affairs committee, Olli Rehn said that president Donald Trump’s administration was “establishing new priorities”. For the board, the most significant of these was the “significant deregulation of the financial system”, including “private finance, non-bank financial
