The average level of coverage among deposit insurance schemes has risen “substantially” in the decade up to end-2017, according to the International Association of Deposit Insurers.

Basel-based IADI published its latest survey of deposit insurance today (November 19), gathering responses from 135 schemes worldwide. While the range of coverage remains wide, from less than $1,000 to “still a few systems with blanket guarantees”, the average level of coverage is now up to $75,000.
