Norges Bank withdraws coin from circulation

Norges Bank today (April 12) reminded the public that as of May 1, 2012, the 50-øre coin will begin to be removed from circulation. The coin will no longer be legal tender as from the same date.

The central bank's executive board initially decided to retire the coin in March 2011. The decision was taken because the coin no longer circulates as an ordinary coin used for payment.
