IMF board approves funding to Pakistan
Institution disburses around $1bn in first instalment of extended facility
The executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on September 27 approved a $7 billion funding package to Pakistan. The IMF also immediately disbursed about $1 billion from the extended fund facility (EFF) that it provisionally agreed with the country in July.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) confirmed receipt of the disbursement on the same day. It added that the amount would be reflected in its liquid reserves data, which would be published on October 3.
The EFF is to last 37 months
