Russia launches payments moratorium for displaced citizens

Residents of regions affected by Ukraine’s counteroffensive can defer payments for up to six months

The Bank of Russia is to allow citizens displaced by Ukraine’s counteroffensive to defer loan repayments for up to six months.

The bank announced on August 13 that borrowers displaced from regions such as Kursk and Belgorod could be granted “loan repayment holidays”. These would apply to outstanding mortgages of up to 15 million rubles ($166,333), car loans of up to 1.6 million rubles, credit cards of up to 150,000 rubles or other outstanding loans of up to 450,000 rubles.
