Belgian governor calls for rethink of EU climate policy
Transition to lower-carbon economy will create losers as well as winners, Wunsch says
European Union (EU) countries must re-think their approach to climate change, National Bank of Belgium governor Pierre Wunsch has said.
EU political leaders were downplaying the likely costs of transition to a lower-carbon economy, Wunsch said on February 13. They were also underestimating the difficulties of international co-operation and needed to cut regulatory burdens, he told a conference of EU parliamentarians.
