Hernández de Cos calls for full Basel III implementation

Basel Committee chair says that financial stability depends on adopting reforms

Bank of Spain governor Pablo Hernández de Cos has called for the full implementation of the outstanding Basel III reforms of the global financial system.

“The job of safeguarding global financial stability is far from finished,” said Hernández de Cos, head of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, today (September 10).

The outstanding reforms were finalised in 2017 and the BCBS scheduled their full implementation for January 1, 2023. They are focused on creating a global standard to
