CFTC report calls for US regulators to take urgent climate action
US should join NGFS, impose carbon price and mandate firms to disclose green risks, report says
A sub-committee of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has called for the country’s financial regulators to take urgent action on climate change.
The report, published on September 9, calls for US authorities to take several steps that are far in advance of what they are currently doing.
These include imposing a set carbon price to bring the US into line with the Paris Agreement on climate change. US president Donald Trump withdrew from the Paris Agreement in 2017.
