Regulators should concentrate fintech firms’ risk and governance approaches - former BCBS secretary

Financial supervisors and central banks face a major challenge in recruiting staff with the skills to properly cope with fintech, said William Coen.

“Recruiting experts in this area is an issue for the big banks,” the former secretary general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision told a webinar organised by Central Banking on March 16.  “And if it’s an issue for them, with the levels of compensation they can pay, it certainly is an issue for the supervisors and central banks.”
