Market fears over particular eurozone countries have influenced the lending behaviour by banks in those countries in recent years, a working paper published by the Bank of Portugal finds.

In Euro area credit market: who contributed to the recent recovery? Carla Soares looks at data from January 2014 to December 2018.

The author’s main source of data consists of an individual confidential database of eurozone banks, used in conjunction with individual report data on bank characteristics.
