UK regulators welcome plans for clearer green mandate
Government unveils first “green finance strategy”, including changes to policy remits
The UK’s top financial regulators have welcomed a new “green finance strategy” by the government that proposes to clarify the role regulators are expected to play in promoting green finance.
The proposals also envisage tougher disclosure requirements for major firms, including the possibility of mandatory disclosures.
The UK government published the strategy today (July 2), calling it a “comprehensive approach” to “greening” the financial system and mobilising finance for green projects.
