RBNZ launches review into collapsed insurer
CBL Insurance to be liquidated after failing to assemble rescue plan
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand launched an independent review of the “complex” factors leading to the collapse of CBL Insurance today (November 12), as the firm enters liquidation.
“CBL Insurance’s demise is a complex, multi-faceted event involving many parties, both in New Zealand and offshore. There will be important lessons to be considered by all parties,” stated Geoff Bascand, deputy governor in charge of financial stability at the RBNZ.
