Rwanda concerned by high NPL levels despite improvement

Central bank records 6.5% decrease in NPL levels

In a recent report, he National Bank of Rwanda signals non-performing loans are its greatest concern when it comes to financial stability.

The ratio of NPLs in banks, according to the central bank’s latest Financial Stability Review, declined from 7.7% in September 2017 to 7.2% in September 2018.

There was a similar trend in the microfinance sector, with NPL levels falling from 8% to 6.8% within the same time frame.
