ECB calls for changes to draft investment firm regulations

EU proposals omit macro-prudential measures and could cause statistical problems, ECB says

The European Central Bank has said some of the European Union’s political institutions need to change their draft regulations for regulating investment firms.

The ECB welcomed some of the proposals made by the European Council, which brings together EU member states’ governments, the European Commission and the European parliament.

But it expressed misgivings about some of the specific proposed changes, in an official opinion dated August 22. In particular, the proposals lacked any measures to
