Financial delinquency in the US is concentrated in a small proportion of the population, according to a research paper published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The Persistence of Financial Distress by Kartik Athreya, José Mustre-del-Río and Juan Sánchez analyses the credit histories of individuals between the first quarter of 1999 and the second quarter of 2017. Because the authors’ model focuses on the delinquency behaviour before retirement, the consumers are between 25 and 55
