Malaysian opposition: bank must act against 1MDB officials

Bank Negara Malaysia says it will continue to work with international agencies over alleged fraud

Malaysia’s opposition party today (September 27) called for the country’s central bank to take legal action against senior figures, including the prime minister, implicated in the multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal.

The central bank says it is prepared to work with international enforcement and regulatory agencies over the affair. The remark is contained in a letter from the head of legal affairs at the central bank, responding to opposition lawmakers’ questions about its handling of the affair
