ECB issues final guidance on NPLs

Supervisors are writing to larger eurozone banks with high NPL levels

The supervisory arm of the European Central Bank (ECB) issued its final guidance to eurozone banks on dealing with non-performing loans (NPLs) today (March 20).

The guidance will “now form part of the day-to-day supervisory dialogue with individual banks”, the ECB’s Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) announced. The final document appeared to show no significant changes from the draft documents issued as part of a consultation exercise last year, one observer said. It concentrated more on
