ECB’s economic bulletin paints mixed picture of eurozone investment

Business investment recovering overall but several factors may limit further growth, ECB says

Investment in the eurozone was growing but several factors are likely to limit its effects, the European Central Bank (ECB) said in its latest economic bulletin.

The eurozone's ratio of real business investment to value added had recently surpassed its historical level, the ECB bulletin said. Business investment, calculated as total investment minus spending on construction, fell sharply in real terms for two years from the first quarter of 2011.
