Slovakian central bank boosts provisions for financial risks
National Bank of Slovakia records gross profit of €144.6 million in 2015
The National Bank of Slovakia recorded a gross profit of €144.6 million ($159 million) in 2015, much of which was used to bolster its "general provision for financial risks".
Indeed, following a board decision in January, the bank increased its general provision by €140 million to €660 million. This left net profit for 2015 at €4.6 million.
In 2015, the bank's principal source of income was interest on income bonds, which amounted to €159.9 million. This was, however, 56% lower than in 2014. The
