Domestic inflation remained ‘benign’ in 2015 – Rwandan statement

National Bank of Rwanda: inflation looks to be holding stable, despite minor increase

Although domestic inflation in Rwanda slowly ticked up through 2015, it remained “benign”, according to the National Bank of Rwanda's latest monetary and financial stability statement, published on February 18.

Domestic inflation averaged 3% in 2015, an increase on the 1.9% recorded in 2014, the report said, adding this was largely due to the increase in domestic food prices balanced against the fall in international oil prices.

Core inflation, which excludes fresh produce and energy, declined
