Eurozone prices to rise in the long term, survey of forecasters says

Falling oil prices will push short-term inflation down, survey says

Professional forecasters expect eurozone inflation to rise in the long term despite the downward pressure exerted by energy prices. The prediction was made in the latest Survey of Professional Forecasters conducted by the European Central Bank (ECB).

Most of the responders continued to expect "a strong pick-up in inflation in 2016 and 2017", the ECB said. The forecasters' expectations had nonetheless fallen from the previous survey.
