Public expectations of banking supervision unrealistic: Netherlands Bank study

Research published by the Netherlands Bank in December says more realistic expectations of banking supervision policies from the general public can improve financial stability.

Carin van der Cruijsen, Jakob de Haan, David-Jan Jansen and Robert Mosch - the paper's authors - conducted a survey on Dutch households to investigate the general public's knowledge and expectations of banking supervision.

The results show the public's knowledge about banking supervision is limited, with respondents
