Survey shows C-suite’s early worries about trade barriers

Firms exposed to tariffs are expecting lower revenue and employment growth, and higher price and unit costs, according to research from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

The study by Brent Meyer, Lauren Taylor, and Daniel Weitz is based on data from the Atlanta Fed’s survey of firms’ chief financial officers (CFOs). It was published on April 1 – the day before US president Donald Trump announced his most wide-ranging set of tariffs.
