Bank of Canada paper examines effect of downward nominal wage rigidity on wage growth

The impact of downward nominal wage rigidity (DNWR) on average wage growth increased following the 2009 recession, a working paper published by the Bank of Canada has said.

Authors Dany Brouillette, Olena Kostyshyna and Natalia Kyui, show that average wage growth was higher due to DNWR between 2009 and 2011, ranging from 0.09 to 0.95 percentage points, in their paper Downward Nominal Wage Rigidity in Canada: Evidence from Micro-Level Data.
