Riksbank opens procurement for e-krona development
Central bank intends to commission platform for electronic central bank payments in 2020
Sveriges Riksbank has started to develop solutions for a possible central bank digital currency, the e-krona, and is procuring a technical supplier, the institution said on June 3.
The procurement process will run during the summer and autumn of 2019. Once the Riksbank selects a supplier, it will work with it on the development of the e-krona. “In 2020, a technical platform for e-krona payments, as well as a small number of different forms of means of payment for the e-krona, will be developed
