Philippines central bank reveals counterfeiting arrests
Central bank says it was behind four successful anti-counterfeiting operations in Q1
The Central Bank of the Philippines was behind four "successful anti-counterfeiting operations" conducted in the first quarter of the year, it announced on May 25.
The operations, conducted by members of the central bank's currency issue and integrity office, resulted in the arrests of nine suspects, it said.
Under the country's legislation the central bank has the power to make arrests itself, though it often acts in co-ordination with other law enforcement agencies.
