Brief History

The bank was established by Law N°. 24 of 1923. In accordance with the constitution and Law N°. 31 of 29 December 1992 it is organised as a juridical entity of public law with administrative and technical autonomy within the government structure. Its basic functions involve the issue of legal tender banknotes and coins; the control of money, foreign exchange and credit in order to preserve the stability of the Colombian peso; the administration of the international reserves; and it
