Liikanen discusses logic behind publishing ‘accounts’
Finland governor says it is important central banks exhibit a ‘high degree’ of transparency
Bank of Finland governor Erkki Liikanen stressed a "high degree" of transparency was an important tool for central banks on September 10, as he discussed the logic behind the European Central Bank's (ECB's) decision to publish accounts of the governing council's deliberations.
Liikanen told an audience in Zagreb the decision to publish the accounts was prompted by the ECB's use of unorthodox measures. "We decided that we need to be more open with the public about how we reached our decisions,"
