Kuroda reviews QQE two years on
Central bank expects inflation to move towards target soon
It is two years since the Bank of Japan launched its programme of quantitative and qualitative easing (QQE), and the policy is working as intended, governor Haruhiko Kuroda said today (May 15), despite inflation hitting zero.
QQE has produced a "virtuous cycle", Kuroda told the Yomiuri International Economic Society in Tokyo. Long-term rates have been pushed down, helping to boost exports and profits, while labour market conditions have tightened and household spending has proved "resilient".
