Czech vice-governor questions case for joining banking union
Government adopts ‘wait-and-see approach’ and will review issue yearly
"Complete equality" between countries inside and outside the eurozone in the banking union is "probably unachievable", a vice-governor at the Czech National Bank (CNB), Mojmír Hampl, has said.
At present only the 19 eurozone member states participate in the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). Other EU countries can opt in, but have yet to do so.
