RBA markets head details Australian approach to securitisation

Chris Aylmer outlines RBA's approach to ABS risk management

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) accepts asset-backed securities (ABS) as collateral in its liquidity and open market operations, and manages the risk "to a very high standard", according to the RBA's head of domestic markets, Chris Aylmer.

In remarks to an Australian securitisation conference, Aylmer said the securitisation market was looking healthy "in comparison with its overseas counterparts", recovering strongly from the global financial crisis, albeit not to pre-crisis levels.
