Greek governor wants to promote SME access to capital markets

SMEs remain largely dependent on bank loans for financing

Yannis Stournaras called on policy-makers to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) access capital markets, as part of their efforts to boost the supply of credit to the real economy in the eurozone.

The Bank of Greece governor told an audience in Slovenia he supported the European Central Bank campaign for a change in the regulatory treatment of asset-backed securities.
