Visco calls for ‘rapid’ SRM agreement

Governor of the Bank of Italy Ignazio Visco called for changes to the planned single resolution mechanism (SRM) in Europe in a speech last week, arguing that the decision-making process must be "speeded up and made more effective".

The European Parliament and the Council for the EU are currently clashing over the design of the SRM. Speaking in Rome on Saturday, Visco took issue with the plan to build a single resolution fund within 10 years, with his comments reminiscent of European Central Bank
