RBA’s Stevens laments ‘uncomfortably high’ currency

The Australian dollar remains "uncomfortably high" according to Glenn Stevens, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) governor.

The RBA board voted to hold the benchmark interest rate at 2.5% today and Stevens delivered a broadly similar statement as at the end of the board's November meeting. Since the previous meeting, Stevens explained, additional wage data has surfaced supporting the central bank's belief that inflation is "consistent with the medium-term target".

Despite depreciating by 3.5%
