Central Bank of Kenya chief promotes monetary union

The governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, Njuguna Ndung'u, on July 3 called upon the Kenya Institute of Bankers (KIB) to produce suitable training schemes in preparation for the development of a monetary union among the East African Community member countries.

Speaking at the KIB national banking and finance conference in Mombasa, Ndung'u said: "To facilitate effective preparations for the monetary union, KIB should tailor its training programmes to satisfy the emerging needs of a dynamic
