Caruana presses importance of central bank balance sheets
Jaime Caruana, the general manager of the Bank for International Settlements, on December 12 shared his thoughts on the importance of central bank balance sheets.
In his keynote address at the joint Bank of Thailand-BIS conference, Central bank balance sheets in Asia and the Pacific: the policy challenges ahead, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Caruana said central bank balance sheets have played a "special role" historically in ensuring monetary and financial stability.
