RBI’s Subbarao urges reforms on regulating auditors

Duvvuri Subbarao, the governor of the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday questioned the independence of large auditors and argued that past experiences suggested the need for systemic reforms in the sector.

At the 26th Regional Conference of the Western India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India in Mumbai, Subbarao said: "The growth of large international firms of accountants has created an opportunity for the provision of a multiplicity of services. Clients benefit
