‘Ambitious’ strengthening of economic governance needed: Praet

A speech by Peter Praet, a member of the executive board of the European Central Bank, on Friday said "ambitious" strengthening of economic governance was needed to ensure a resolution to the financial crisis.

"Significant reforms in this direction are taking place in Europe," he said. The legislative package agreed by the EU Council and the European Parliament contains measures that were "unthinkable" four year ago, he added.
